Pee-Pee!

The title is not intended to be gross...we are about to enter that phase of introducing the potty chair to our girl.  We are really in no hurry to potty train her, she's just been very interested in the big potty so we thought it would be fun to have one for her to sit on and get used to.

So, we bought a potty chair while in Lubbock yesterday. She was very excited about it. We set it up right before her bath so she practiced sitting on it with only a couple tiny contributions. Nothing really.  She proceeded to pick up the potty chair and head out into the hallway. There she  accidentally peed on the carpet. I guess she has never put two and two together on what we mean when we say "pee-pee." The sight of what just came out of her body TERRIFIED her! She started screaming and crying. She was so upset about the pee-pee on the floor. She kept saying "No pee-pee!" Being as upset as she was, of course some more was coming out. So, I held her on the potty chair to catch the rest. You can probably picture the scene in the hallway: Charise screaming and crying on the potty chair, daddy standing back looking broken hearted, and mommy holding the screaming Charise on the potty chair trying to hold in my laughter. It was too funny! Not that she was upset, but her reaction. I couldn't believe she would react the way she did.

Here's the picture. I just had to capture this first experience!

We finally got her calmed down. I reassured her that mommy can clean up the pee-pee. We even showed her how the pee-pee goes in the big potty and gets to be flushed. She really wasn't all that impressed by then. Who knows when we'll be able to get her on the potty chair again. For now, its a new bathroom fixture for her to get used to. We're in no hurry. I just pray she is not permanently traumatized from this first potty chair episode.

She cheered up in her bath.  She always enjoys bath time. It's a great mood changer for her.

When daddy brushes her teeth in the bath tub, he holds the side of her head. She has started holding the other side of her head to "help out." It's too cute! I'm glad I caught this on camera!

Follow up: Tonight she didn't want anything to do with the potty chair. Kept telling daddy "No!" if he opened it up. :) We'll see what happens now!
